About

I am writing my dissertation (Post-Yugoslav Identities and the East-West Paradigm: Empires and Imperialism on the Margins of Europe) for the Special Committee PhD Program entitled Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies.

My primary area of interest is Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian literature and culture with an emphasis on comparative approaches and postcolonial studies. I am especially interested in how former Yugoslav intellectuals imagined themselves in relation to the West/Western Europe.

In the future, I'd like to:
- focus more on popular culture in former Yugoslavia (music, film, sport, comic books)
- develop my research on economic relations with the West
- explore the video archives in Sarajevo (Top Lista Nadrealista, Cultural Programming)
- research the now forgotten Bosnian author Branko Ćopić
- explore the literary debates in 1920s and 30s in former Yugoslavia
- develop a theoretical discussion of Slavic Languages and Literature as a discipline
- develop the 19th century intellectual history aspect of my research
- collaborate on a new approach to B/C/S literature
